Internet T1 Business Voice Data Circuit Provider
Now you can put your business on the right track with an incredibly reliable data T1 (DS1) line from Layer 2 Communications. As a Houston T1 Provider our T1 (DS1) Data Lines are available in single and bonded multiple full T1 (DS1) with speeds starting at 1.5 Mbps (Megabits per second) which are symmetrical, meaning that downloads and uploads are equally fast. All Layer 2 Communications T1 (DS1) lines come with Service Level Agreements guaranteeing your uptime and support. Layer 2 Communications supports multiple Network Interface Devices (NID) required to connect your network to the T1 line. You can either purchase equipment suggested by Layer 2 Communications or supply your own equipment.
A standard Layer 2 Communications DS1 circuit or also called a T1 line will give you 1.5 Mbps bandwidth. This is often plenty for PBX phone, audio transport, business Internet access, and small email and web servers. Should you need more bandwidth the next readily available service is Bonding of T1’s. Bonding is also an acronym for an industry standards group, the Bandwidth On Demand INteroperability Group. You can get dual bonded T1 (DS1) which gives you 3 Mbps and triple bonded T1 (DS1) which is 4.5 Mbps.
Layer 2 Communications supports Cisco 2600 routers for single T1 (DS1) deployment and the Cisco 3600 router when Bonding two T1's together. At 1.544 megabits per second, a T1 line provides the equivalent speed of 24 dial-up modem connections, or 12 ISDN connections. It's intended for small- or medium-sized companies that require a high-speed, stable connection between their network and the Internet and that frequently transmit or receive large amounts of data or large data files (such as large graphic or audio files). T1 lines can also host Voice over IP (VoIP) telecommunications.
Origin of the Name T1
The name T1 came from the carrier letter assigned by AT&T to the technology. Essentially, the "T" is a part number that was assigned by AT&T. Just as there is the generally known L-carrier and N-carrier systems, T-carrier was next letter available and T1 is the first level in the hierarchy. DS-1 meant "Digital Service - Level 1", and had to do with the service to be sent (originally 24 digitized voice channels over the T1). The terms T1 and DS1 have become synonymous and include a plethora of different services from voice to data to clear-channel pipes. The line speed is always consistent at 1.544 Mbit/s, but the payload can vary greatly. Click Here to learn more about T1 & DS1 Circuits
